Real-Time Peer Support
Real-Time Peer Support
Thanks for being here.
Let me start by telling you how the three of us got together. In October 2023 I saw my wife struggling with MS and slipping away and I wanted to help her be better. Our friend Brenner told me this autistic guy, Neil, had lost his wife to the same kind of situation and was developing a coaching program around his lived-experience. So I called him up and we talked about Jenn's MS. He read my book. And within a couple coaching sessions I said to this dope, “this is too important to not record. Let me find a co-host.”

Katie here, yep that's true, we had one phone call maybe 20 minutes before jumping into recording the first episode. Sabe told me Neil would have so much say. And he does, but I didn't know he would totally transform how I see myself from the ground up and make the world brighter by the end of episode 8. We do carry the light. Neil has this way of making the light we carry brighter. He listens like life depends on it. And what he says hits home time again. I hope this conversation makes sense to you and makes your day brighter. We are unscripted and raw because life is in the balance, and light comes naturally when we co-regulate.
That was what Neil said on that first call, that we need to learn to co-regulate. These are our real-time coaching sessions where we learn what that means and how to find our neurological supports so we are able to regulate with the world around us. I have ADHD and now I have language and understanding of how to show up and manage, where before I masked up and paid the price.
But that is just one example of how this dialogue has changed my life. How will it change yours?
There's only one way to find out! Let us know in the comments what hits, what's good, and what you'd like the world to do to support you. We're all in this together.

Neuro Dope is also about peer support. A real-time model of growing together in moments of co-regulatory safety. I hope you enjoy our journey and that it informs and enhances your own
Self discovery.
It is true. I'm autistic. Very neurodivergent. Podcasting was not something I ever thought I would want to do, but I trusted Sabe. And I wanted to become more than a disabled ghost. I have been coaching people for over 20 years. Sabe was the first person to see me and attempt the impossible--make a record of the light we bear.
I am a post materialist savant. I get downloads throughout every episode.
85% of autistics with college degrees like me are disabled precisely because we are not seen or valued, but many of us work all the time caring for our sick and dying family members. What I have to say and what you will hear in this podcast is better explained by The Telepathy Tapes. Our work runs parallel and I hope you have digested all what Ky Dickens has made clear with her excellent work. We all have value. We are all competent, because we carry the light.
